Previous Employment

  • 2003 - Current
I have been working as a member of Sly Arts, who are a collective of musicians working with young people on educational music projects.
This is in a workshop environment to enable young musicians to play and record together and culminates in a live performance.

My role incorporates facilitating ideas, one to one tuition, general encouragement in musicianship (e.g. composition, arrangement, performance skills) and directing a music group/band.

Over the past three years, I have been involved with Sly Arts delivering workshops at a number of prisons, special needs schools, children at risk and excluded children facilities. I have also delivered a solo drumming workshop for Live Music Now south west.

I am presently employed by Soar Valley Music Centre as a part time music tutor. My role specialises in drum kit tuition and is based within the music faculty of Loughborough College. I also tutor at Soar Valley College and have taught twelve Year 7 pupils at Ibstock College, Leicestershire. During end of term holidays I deliver issue based music workshops, through Soar Valley Music Centre and other providers at various youth clubs and centres in and around Leicester.

Resident musician as part of “Freestyle Collective”, who perform twice weekly at Original Four, Leicester. I also play regularly with session/function band Staxlantic, at many corporate events.

Extra work as a musician includes gigs for Leicester City Council and performing with Jazz ensembles. Venues played recently include Leicester Haymarket Theatre, Phoenix Arts Centre Leicester, Leicester Music Festival, BBC Music Live, plus various venues in Nottingham, Birmingham and London.

I am also part of the Laurel Aitken Band, and have recently headlined many concerts across Germany, Holland, Switzerland and Spain.
